PART A: TYPES OF REASONING
2

Types of Reasoning

1

Reasoning

Reasoning = Premises/Evidence → Logical Process → Conclusion
2

Deductive Reasoning —

General → Particular

Example: Premise 1: सभी prime numbers greater than 2 odd होते हैं।

Deduction = Certainty, provided premises are true and argument is valid
3

Inductive Reasoning —

Particular → General

Example: Sequence: 2, 4, 6, 8…

DeductiveInductive
Conclusion probable
Validity पर बलStrength/probability पर बल
4

Abductive Reasoning —

Observation → Best Possible Explanation

5

Analogical Reasoning —

A : B :: C : D

Example: Book : Reading :: Pen : Writing। Mathematical analogy में: 4 : 16 :: 7 : 49

Rule: n → n²
PART B: NUMBER SERIES
3

Number Series

1

Number Series

  • Series Solve
  • 1. Difference check करें।
  • 2. Second difference
  • 3. Multiplication/division
  • 4. Mixed operations
  • 5. Squares, cubes और primes देखें।
  • 6. Alternate terms
  • 7. Position-based rule
2

Difference Series

Example: 5, 9, 13, 17, ?

Difference: +4, +4, +4
Answer: 21
3

Increasing Difference Series

Example: 3, 7, 13, 21, 31, ?

Differences: 4, 6, 8, 10 → Next difference = 12
Answer: 31 + 12 = 43
4

Second-Difference Series

Example: 2, 5, 10, 17, 26, ?

First differences: 3, 5, 7, 9 → Next difference = 11
Answer: 37

5

Multiplication Series

Example: 3, 6, 18, 72, ?

Operations: ×2, ×3, ×4 → Next: 72×5 = 360
6

Mixed Operation Series

Example: 2, 5, 11, 23, 47, ?

Rule: ×2 + 1
Answer: 47×2+1 = 95
7

Square और Cube Series

Important Squares

8

Prime Number Series

Example: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19…

  • Exam Trap: 1 prime
  • 2 एकमात्र even prime है।
9

Fibonacci-Type Series

Example: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13…

10

Alternate Series

Example: 2, 5, 4, 10, 8, 20, ?

Odd terms: 2, 4, 8, ? → ×2; Even terms: 5, 10, 20 → ×2

Answer: 16
11

Wrong Term

  • 1. Expected pattern

PART C: LETTER SERIES
4

Letter Series

1

Alphabet Positions

A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 … Z = 26

Reverse Positions

Z = 1, Y = 2, X = 3 … A = 26

Important Formula: किसी letter की forward और reverse position का sum = 27

Example: C की forward position = 3, Reverse position = 24, 3 + 24 = 27

2

Opposite Letter Pairs

A↔Z, B↔Y, C↔X, D↔W, E↔V — प्रत्येक pair का sum 27 होता है (forward + reverse position rule का प्रयोग करके)।

3

Letter-Series Patterns

Equal Jump — Example: A, D, G, J, ?

Positions: 1, 4, 7, 10 → +3
Answer: M

Increasing Jump — Example: A, C, F, J, O, ?

Jumps: +2, +3, +4, +5 → Next +6: O + 6 = U

Alternate Series — Example: A, Z, C, X, E, V, ?

Forward series: A, C, E, ? → G; Backward series: Z, X, V

Answer: G
PART D: CODING–DECODING
5

Coding–Decoding

1

Coding-Decoding

Rule पहचानकर original या new code निकालना decoding है।

  • Letter shifting
  • Reverse alphabet
  • Word reversal
  • Position coding
  • Substitution coding
  • Number coding
  • Matrix coding
  • Sentence coding
2

Letter Shifting

3

Reverse-Alphabet Coding

Opposite letters उपयोग किए जाते हैं: A↔Z, B↔Y, C↔X

Example: CAT → C→X, A→Z, T→G

Code: XZG
4

Word-Rearrangement Coding

Example: QUESTION → UQSEITNO

QU→UQ, ES→SE, TI→IT, ON→NO।

5

Number Coding

Letters की positions का Sum, Difference, Product, Square, Vowel/consonant count code हो सकता है।

Example: CAT = C+A+T = 3+1+20 = 24

तो: DOG = 4+15+7 = 26
6

Sentence Coding

Common word और common code method:

Example: "Sky is blue" → ka na pa; "Sea is blue" → ta na pa

Exam Strategy: Common Word ↔ Common Code
PART E: MATHEMATICAL RELATIONSHIPS
6

Mathematical Relationships

1

Mathematical Analogy

2

Operator Substitution

BODMAS: Brackets → Orders → Division → Multiplication → Addition → Subtraction

PART F: FRACTION
7

Fraction

1

Fraction

a/b, b ≠ 0

a = Numerator/अंश, b = Denominator/हर

  • Proper Fraction: a < b,
  • Improper Fraction: a ≥ b,
  • Mixed Fraction: 1 2/5
  • Equivalent Fractions: 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6
2

Fraction Operations

Addition

a/b + c/d = (ad + bc) / bd

Example: 2/3 + 1/4 = (8+3)/12 = 11/12

Multiplication

a/b × c/d = ac/bd

Division

a/b ÷ c/d = a/b × d/c
3

Fraction–Percentage Conversion

FractionPercentage
1/250%
1/333⅓%
2/366⅔%
1/425%
1/520%

Example: 1/8 = 12.5% (क्योंकि 1÷8×100 = 12.5)

PART G: RATIO AND PROPORTION
8

Ratio and Proportion

1

Ratio

a : b = a/b

Example: Boys : Girls = 3 : 2 और total students = 50

Total parts = 3+2 = 5 → Boys = 3/5 × 50 = 30; Girls = 2/5 × 50 = 20
2

Proportion

यदि दो ratios equal हों: a : b = c : d, तो ad = bc — इसे cross multiplication कहते हैं।

Example: 3 : 5 = x : 20

3×20 = 5x → x = 12
3

Direct Proportion

y ∝ 1/x

Example: Same work के लिए workers और days — जितने ज़्यादा workers, उतने कम days।

4

Ratio Change Formula

यदि ratio a:b और total T है:

First quantity = a/(a+b) × T; Second quantity = b/(a+b) × T

Exam Trap: Ratio की quantities में same unit होना चाहिए।

PART H: PERCENTAGE
9

Percentage

1

Percentage

x% = x/100
Percentage = (Part / Whole) × 100

Example: 45 out of 60 को percentage में बदलें: 45/60 × 100 = 75%

2

Percentage Increase/Decrease

% Change = (Change / Original Value) × 100

Example: Salary ₹20,000 से ₹23,000 हुई। Increase: 3000

Percentage increase = 3000/20000 × 100 = 15%
3

Successive Percentage Change

यदि successive changes a% और b% हों (decrease को negative लें):

Net change = a + b + ab/100

Example: 20% increase, फिर 10% decrease:

20 − 10 + (20×−10)/100 = 10 − 2 = 8% increase

4

Population/Value Multiplier

  • x% increase → multiply by (1 + x/100)
  • x% decrease → multiply by (1 − x/100)

Example: ₹5,000 पर 10% increase: 5000 × 1.10 = ₹5,500

Practice Question with Solution

A. 5% increase   B. 5% decrease   C. No change   D. 10% decrease

Solution: Successive change formula = a + b + ab/100 = 25 + (−20) + (25×−20)/100 = 5 − 5 = 0

Correct Answer: C. No change
PART I: PROFIT AND LOSS
10

Profit and Loss

1

Important Terms

  • CP = Cost Price/
  • SP = Selling Price/
  • MP = Marked Price/
Profit = SP − CP; Profit% = (Profit/CP) × 100
Loss = CP − SP; Loss% = (Loss/CP) × 100

2

SP Formula

Profit p%:

SP = CP × (1 + p/100)

Loss l%:

SP = CP × (1 − l/100)

CP Formula

CP = (SP × 100)/(100+p) — profit की स्थिति में; CP = (SP × 100)/(100−l) — loss की स्थिति में

Example: ₹1,200 CP पर 10% profit से SP = 1200×1.10 = ₹1,320

3

Profit Selling Price

SP = 100, Profit = x, CP = 100 − x

Profit% on CP = x/(100−x) × 100

Example: Profit = SP का 25%: Profit% = 25/75 × 100 = 33⅓%

4

Equal Selling Price: Equal Profit and Loss

Overall Loss% = x²/100

Example: 20% profit और 20% loss: 20²/100 = 4% loss

Practice Question with Solution

A. ₹1,100   B. ₹1,200   C. ₹1,250   D. ₹1,300

Solution: CP = (SP × 100)/(100+p) = (1440 × 100)/120 = ₹1,200

Correct Answer: B. ₹1,200
PART J: DISCOUNT
11

Discount

1

Discount Formula

Discount = MP − SP
Discount% = (Discount / MP) × 100
SP = MP × (1 − d/100)

Example: MP ₹1,000 पर 15% discount: SP = 1000×0.85 = ₹850

2

Successive Discounts

Two discounts a% और b%:

Equivalent Discount = a + b − ab/100

Example: 20% और 10%: 20+10−(20×10)/100 = 28%

Three Successive Discounts: Remaining multipliers का product करें। 10%, 20%, 25% discounts:

0.90 × 0.80 × 0.75 = 0.54 → Net payable = 54% → Equivalent discount = 46%

Exam Trap: Successive discounts

Practice Question with Solution

A. ₹1,400   B. ₹1,440   C. ₹1,460   D. ₹1,600

Solution: 2000 × 0.80 × 0.90 = 1440

Correct Answer: B. ₹1,440
PART K: SIMPLE AND COMPOUND INTEREST
12

Simple and Compound Interest

1

Simple Interest

SI = (P × R × T) / 100

P = Principal, R = Annual rate, T = Time in years

Amount = P + SI

Example: ₹10,000 पर 10% annual rate से 2 years: SI = (10000×10×2)/100 = ₹2000 → Amount = ₹12,000

2

Compound Interest

A = P × (1 + R/100)^T
CI = A − P

Example: ₹10,000, 10%, 2 years: A = 10000×(1.1)² = ₹12,100; CI = 12100−10000 = ₹2,100

3

CI–SI Difference

2 years के लिए:

CI − SI = P × (R/100)²

Example: ₹10,000 at 10%: CI − SI = 10000 × (10/100)² = ₹100

4

Half-Yearly Compounding

  • Rate = R/2
  • Time periods = 2T
A = P × (1 + (R/2)/100)^(2T)

Quarterly: Rate = R/4, Periods = 4T

5

Depreciation

Value after T years = P × (1 − R/100)^T

Example: ₹1,00,000 machine 10% वार्षिक depreciate हो, 2 years बाद value = 100000×(0.9)² = ₹81,000

Practice Question with Solution

A. ₹1,820   B. ₹1,920   C. ₹2,000   D. ₹2,120

Solution: SI = (8000×12×2)/100 = 1920

Correct Answer: B. ₹1,920
PART L: TIME AND DISTANCE
13

Time and Distance

1

Fundamental Formula

Speed = Distance / Time
Distance = Speed × Time
Time = Distance / Speed

Example: 150 km, 3 hours में तय — Speed = 150/3 = 50 km/hr

2

Unit Conversion

1 km/hr = 5/18 m/s; 1 m/s = 18/5 km/hr

Example: 72 km/hr: 72 × 5/18 = 20 m/s

3

Relative Speed

Opposite Directions:

Relative speed = v1 + v2

Same Direction:

Relative speed = |v1 − v2|

4

Speed–Time Relation

Same distance के लिए: Speed ∝ 1/Time

Example: Speed 25% बढ़ी → New time = 100/125 = 4/5, अर्थात time 20% घटा।

5

Average Speed

Average Speed = Total Distance / Total Time

Equal Distances at Speeds x and y:

Average Speed = 2xy / (x+y)

Equal Time at Speeds x and y:

Average Speed = (x+y) / 2

Exam Trap: Different time/distance

6

Train Problems

Pole/person को cross करना:

Time = Length of train / Speed

Platform को cross करना:

Time = (Train length + Platform length) / Speed

Two trains: Opposite direction → speeds add; Same direction → speeds subtract

Practice Question with Solution

A. 24 km/hr   B. 25 km/hr   C. 26 km/hr   D. 20 km/hr

Solution: Equal distances formula: (2×30×20)/(30+20) = 1200/50 = 24

Correct Answer: A. 24 km/hr
PART M: AVERAGE
14

Average

1

Basic Formula

Average = Sum of Observations / Number of Observations
Sum = Average × Number

Example: 5 numbers का average 18: Sum = 5×18 = 90

2

Combined Average

Combined Average = (n1a1 + n2a2) / (n1+n2)

3

Replacement in Average

Change in average = (y−x)/n

Average increase = (60−40)/10 = 2

4

Weighted Average

x̄w = Σ(wx) / Σw

जब observations की importance/frequency अलग हो।
